Joseph Israel covers ‘Slow Train Coming’

without comments

Messianic reggae artist Joseph Israel has posted a video of his cover of Bob Dylan’s “Slow Train Coming.”

I love it. One of my favorite reggae artists covers my all-time favorite artist.

Dylan request line

without comments

Listening to “Tell Tale Signs” reminds me of other bootleg volumes I’d like to see:

  1. Live performances from his “born-again” period. These are reportedly some of his most passionate performances during a passionate time in his life.
  2. More from the “Infidels” period than was on Vol. 3.

So, in case you’re a regular reader of Rancho Miller, Zimmy, those are my requests.

Initial impressions

“Tell Tale Signs” is wonderful, from the few listens I’ve been able to give it. Only Dylan can make the same song sound like three different songs (“Mississippi”) or do a demo that sounds as good if not better than the final recording (“Dignity”). And “Red River Shore”? Is there a better ballad writer alive?

without comments

Bob Dylan’s new bootleg volume is out today, but I forgot to bring along enough $ to snag it. Hope there’s some left Wednesday. (CDs, that is.)
