‘You lie!’ bad move

U.S. Rep. Joe Wilson’s outburst of “You lie!” during President Obama’s speech on Wednesday night about health care was the equivalent of Obama’s “the police acted stupidly” comments about the Henry Gates arrest at his press conference in July.

Total, unfortunate distraction from the fact that Obama had offered nothing new in his speech.

It was a bad move by Wilson, not to mention disrespectful, and could rally public support to the Democrats’ and Obama’s version of health care reform just when it appeared that the Kennedy-death momentum was waning.

I don’t know if the accusation, that Obama was lying when he said his plan would not cover illegal immigrants, was accurate. But, knowing Obama’s track record, it probably hit the nail on the head.
